Northampton Community College

‘No Small Matter’ film Feb. 27

Northampton Community College will screen ‘No Small Matter,’ a feature-length documentary film, at 9 p.m. in Room 220, College Center, Bethlehem Campus, 3835 Green Pond Road.

The film is about the human capacity for early intellectual development, the potential for high-quality early childhood care and education and how these services benefit our society and economy. A panel discussion will follow.

Lead abatement program Feb. 28

The Bethlehem, Easton, and Northampton County Lead Coalition’s free lead abatement training to contractors and associated individuals information session will be held 5:30 to 7 p.m. (snow date: March 7), in room 114, Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St.

All participants successfully completing the program will be eligible to attend additional safety training at no cost to obtain their 10-hour OSHA Construction Outreach Training Card. Programs meet the requirements of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Dept. of Labor and Industry’s Lead Based Paint Occupation Accreditation and Certification Regulations, as well as the EPA’s requirements in 40 CFR.

Dental information sessions March 5

Northampton Community College will hold a free information session on the dental assisting program from 6 - 8:30 at the Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St.

The program, which can be completed in 10 weeks, prepares graduates to assist a dentist with diagnostic, preventive and other treatment of patients. It emphasizes hands-on instruction, clinical observation and an externship arranged by the college.

Kitchen Design class March 7, 14

NCC is offering a ‘Design Your New Kitchen’ class from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the Fab Lab, Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Fourth St.

Participants will learn how to use Google SketchUp software to create their dream kitchen. There is a cost.

CACLV Small Business Finance begins April 4

The Finance module looks at a personal financial situation and how effective financial management translates to business success. Learn how to identify startup costs, develop financial statements and apply for financing. A hands-on workshop will allow students to put their new skills into practice under the guidance of a business planning professional. There is a cost. Marketing begins March 7

Marketing modules introduces existing and prospective business owners to the process of developing a marketing plan and conducting market research. Learn how to define digital and social media and other markets and target advertising to attract customers.

Boot camp start-up ends March 28

On Jan. 28, Northampton Community College began an eight -week startup boot camp program at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Fowler Family Southside Center. Out of all of the students who submitted an application describing their business idea, seventeen were chosen to participate.

The final pitch will take place March 26 at the center.

The winning idea will represent NCC at the Lehigh

Valley Collegiate Business Pitch Competition in April of 2019 at the Ben Franklin Institute.

OSHA compliance workshop April 18

Northampton Community College, in partnership with the Allentown Public Library, are sponsoring a free Introduction to OSHA workshop from 10 a.m. until noon on April 18 at the library, 1210 W. Hamilton St., Allentown, 18102.

Certificates will be issued to participants who attend the entire program and complete an evaluation. Attendance is limited.
