Two Berks County men and one juvenile have been charged in connection with a mobile home fire which occurred shortly after midnight Oct. 27, 2018, at 1036 Cherry Tree Crossing in the Green Acres Mobile Home Park, Upper Macungie.

According to Upper Macungie Township police, Joseph Newman-Bey, 61, of Maxatawny Township, and Marcanthony Gonzalez, 18, of Mohnton, both in Berks County, along with the juvenile, were charged and arraigned Dec. 27, 2018, regarding their alleged involvement in the fire.

Upon arrival, police discovered the front side of the mobile home engulfed in flames.

The fire was extinguished by Trexlertown, Upper Macungie Station 56, and Fogelsville firefighters. Cetronia Ambulance Corps personnel assisted at the scene.

The home was unoccupied, however, several pets died in the blaze.

The state police fire marshal and Upper Macungie Township fire marshal conducted an investigation and determined the fire to have been intentionally set.

Both men were charged with conspiracy to commit arson, danger of death or bodily injury; arson, danger of death or bodily injury; arson inhabited building or structure; all felonies in the first degree; arson, reckless burning or exploding places uninhabited or unoccupied structure in danger of damage or destruction; arson, possession of explosive/incendiary material or devices; risking catastrophe, all felonies in the third degree, possession of instrument of a crime with intent, misdemeanor of the first degree, recklessly endangering another person, misdemeanor of the second degree.

There was no information available on the charges against the juvenile.

According to the docket of Magisterial District Judge Michael Faulkner obtained from the Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania Web Portal, Gonzalez and Newman-Bey, are currently incarcerated in Berks County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail each.
