LOWER MACUNGIE COLUMN
The Lower Macungie Township Library re-opening has been delayed until 10 a.m. Feb. 25. There will be no programming or access to the collection during this time. Checkout limits have been increased and checked out items cannot be returned during the closure.
The book club will meet 10:30 a.m. March 6 to discuss “Moloka’i” by Alan Brennert. The book for April is “Life on Muskrat Creek” by Ethel Waxham and J. David Love.
There will be a “Build It! Block Party” for children three and up 1:30-2:30 p.m. March 8. Stop by the new program room to play with Legos, Keva Planks, Magformers and more.
The Make-It Monday craft program will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. March 11 for children two and up with adult supervision.
There will be a Dinos After Dark storytime 6:30-7:15 p.m. March 18. There will be dinosaur stories, songs and activities.
Wednesday Whiz-Kids for students in grades three through five will be held 4:30-5:30 p.m. March 20 and offers hands-on fun. Registration is required.
Children’s storytimes will resume in March.

The Friends of the Library will hold its next meeting 10 a.m. March 16 at the library.
Due to library construction, donations for the spring book sale will not be accepted until March 4 and will be accepted through April 16. There will be a dedicated space for donations in the new library.
The spring book sale will be held May 3 and 4.
The Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis, will hold its annual spring bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 16. There will be crafts, attic treasures, a gift basket auction, food and a bake sale.
The Emmaus High School Drama Department will present “Les Miserables” school edition 7 p.m. March 13, 14, 15 and 16 and 2 p.m. March 16 and 17. There will be a Gold Card preview performance 6 p.m. March 12. The Gold Card serves as your ticket. Online ticket sales have begun. Lower Macungie Middle School will present the musical “Into the Woods” 7 p.m. March 21, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. March 23.
Eyer Middle School will present “Disney’s Aladdin, Jr.” 7 p.m. March 28, 29 and 30 and 2 p.m. March 30.
Lower Macungie offers garden plot rentals on Bogie Avenue and at Camp Olympic. Those who rented plots last year can now renew their plot rental through Feb. 28. Starting March 1, plots are available to rent on a first-come, first-serve basis. Contact the Lower Macungie Community Center for more information.
There will be a magic and illusion show with Tom Yurasits 2-2:45 p.m. March 9 at the community center. There is a charge; advance registration is recommended.
The Lower Macungie Garden Club will meet 1 p.m. March 13 at the community center.
The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens Club meets noon March 5 and 19 at the community center. After a business meeting, members play bingo or card games.
The community center offers a number of activities. Classes include card making, community meal prep, belly dance, ballroom dance, tart baking, kiffle baking, fiction writing, Tai Chi, Zumba and Pilates. Children’s activities include Kindermusik, cooking classes, video game animation, soccer, robotics and programming and Toddlers and Tutus. CPR classes will also be offered in April and May. A safe sitter class will be offered April 6. Paint parties are offered Feb. 26 and April 2.
“A Matter of Balance,” a program for senior citizens with concerns about falling, will be held April 1 to June 3. Registration is limited.

Family open gym time is 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays for ages infant through 10 years with a parent. Proof of residency is required.
Yard waste site winter hours are noon-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The center is closed Tuesday and Thursday. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off.
