UPPER MILFORD TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS

Upper Milford Township Supervisors, at their Feb. 7 meeting, approved the final plan for phases IV and V of the Fields at Indian Creek, the 55 and older community being built by Kay Builders at the intersection of Cedar Crest Boulevard and Chestnut Street.

Portions of the community of 218 single family homes lie in Emmaus borough and Lower Macungie Township, but most of it is in Upper Milford.

The planning commission has reviewed and recommended approval of the final plan, contingent on the developer going along with comments recommended by township engineer Jeffrey Ott. “They’re close,” Ott said.

Emmaus also approved the final plan last week.

Supervisors also discussed possible revisions to their regulations, under state Act 167, which addresses stormwater runoff. The township currently allows exemptions from stormwater regulations for construction which creates 4,000 square feet or less of impervious cover.

However, a township farmer has appealed to the state attorney general, saying the township’s regulation is too restrictive.

Supervisors Chairman Rob Sentner suggested allowing exemptions for up to 10,000 square feet of impervious cover, saying the current situation is “not fair to the farmers.”

The board asked solicitor Marc Fisher and planning coordinator Brian Miller to come back to them with proposed changes to the township’s rules.

Supervisors also approved the appointment of Bailey Myers to the recreation committee, to fill an unexpired term which ends Dec. 31. The recreation committee supported Myers’ appointment.
