HORNET HAPPENINGS
The Emmaus High School Library will hold a limited-time only fine forgiveness event for Valentine’s Day, which will conclude at the end of the day on Feb. 15. For students who bring overdue items in their possession directly to the library (not the book drop outside counseling) during this time period, the library will delete the automatically-generated late charges and will cut in half the total of any pre-existing fine that is paid directly.
February’s EHS Library Maker Zone feature is calligraphy. Try incorporating it into a Valentine’s Day card of your own creation now through Feb. 14. The materials and tools (paper, markers, stickers, stamp designs, ink, pinking shears, etc.) are supplied.
Also on Feb. 14, there will be a meeting after school in Cafe 1 for any students and faculty already registered or who are interested in volunteering for Shave for the Brave.
The game club will meet Tuesdays after school in Room 523.
Free spring sports physicals will be offered to all prospective athletes Feb. 13 in the EHS Cafeteria 3 to 5 p.m.
The Mr. Emmaus contest will be held 7 p.m. Feb 13 in the EHS auditorium.
The next Buzz Magazine meeting will be held 2:30 p.m. Feb 13 in the Learning Lab.
If students plan to take Spanish 3 or higher next year and are interested in traveling to Spain during Easter Break 2020, there is still time to enroll. See Señora Hess in Room 332 or Señora Ardito in Room 235 for information.
The next art club meeting will be Feb 19.
The Interact club will sell gum during lunch periods every Monday and Tuesday in February. All proceeds will go back to the school to purchase the next filtered water fountain.
Registration is currently open for anyone taking an advanced placement course who wishes to take an AP exam. All students must register and pay for each exam in the counseling office. Payment is by cash or check, made payable to EHS and is due at the time of registration. A single check for the total amount will be accepted. If a student’s family is experiencing financial hardship, such as qualifying for free/reduced lunch, a student is encouraged to speak with their counselor. The registration deadline is March 1 at the end of the school day.
The health and wellness fitness club’s eighth annual dodge ball tournament will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 28 in the main and auxiliary gyms.
