LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Heating help available

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program application process for the 2018-19 season runs until April 12.

LIHEAP provides assistance for home heating bills to keep low-income Pennsylvanians warm and safe during the winter months.

Assistance is available for renters and homeowners.

LIHEAP benefits are paid directly to the utility company.

The program’s goal is to prevent LIHEAP customers from entering the winter season with shut-off utilities.

Eligibility for the 2018-19 LIHEAP season is set at 150 percent of the federal poverty income guidelines.

For example, the individual limit for an individual is $18,210.

Online applications for LIHEAP may be completed at compass.state.pa.us.

Paper applications are available through local county assistance offices, or interested applicants can download and print an application from the department’s website.
