McClintock-Walsh named Kopecek chair

Dr. Cara McClintock-Walsh, professor of English, has been selected to hold the Robert J. Kopecek Endowed Chair in the Humanities of Northampton Community College over the next three years.

McClintock-Walsh’s proposal, “To the wrongs that need resistance, to the right that needs assistance: 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage,” includes studying women’s history, literature, and culture on the curricular level, the program level, the campus level and beyond. The year 2020 marks the hundredth anniversary of women’s suffrage in America.

The Kopecek Chair was established in honor of Dr. Robert J. Kopecek, NCC’s president from 1977 until 2003. It is intended for faculty who envision a long-term project in the humanities that involves research, initiative and student involvement.

Northampton Community College’s main campus is located at 3835 Green Pond Road. The Fowler Family Southside Center is located at 511 E. Third St. For information, call 610-861-5000 or visit www.northampton.edu.
