The Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts (Charter Arts) held its annual Senior Breakfast Feb. 5, during which members of the class of 2019 were honored for their overall academic achievements. Some legislator representatives were also present at the event, including Mick Dee on behalf of Rep. Jeanne McNeill, William Royer on behalf of Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, and Steve Strella on behalf of Rep. Zachary Mako.

Charter Arts was one of only 349 schools in the nation to be named a 2018 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education due to the outstanding achievement of this class and previous classes. For example, the class of 2017 and 2018 each earned the highest combined proficiency scores on the Keystone Exams of all public and charter schools in the Lehigh Valley.

Charter Arts’ overall student body consists of 630 students who hail from 45 school districts. The class of 2019 consists of 134 seniors from 36 districts.

The date for the event (Jan. 31 - postponed due to a snow day) was chosen this year for the Senior Breakfast as the culminating day of the school’s “Happy Blue Year” initiative, which was held over the month of January to celebrate the school’s National Blue Ribbon award.
