Lecture to be presented

LV HERITAGE MUSEUM:

Lincoln scholar Dr. Joseph Fornieri will present a lecture, “Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass,” exploring the friendship between President Lincoln and leading African-American abolitionist Frederick Douglass, 1 p.m. Feb. 9, Lehigh County Historical Society’s Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown.

Dr. Joseph Fornieri is Professor of Political Science and Director of the Center for Statesmanship, Law, and Liberty at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

His presentation will explore how Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln came to respect each other and why Frederick Douglass is considered the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. of the 19th century.

Fornieri has authored or edited numerous articles and books about Lincoln. Copies of his books will be available for purchase, and the author will sign copies.
