The Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, Inc. has announced events for the 62nd Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade, which departs from the Allentown Fairgrounds at 1:30 p.m. March 17.

The annual Parade Fundraiser is 3-6 p.m. Feb. 17, Christopher’s at the Columbian Home, 1519 Greenleaf St., Allentown. Tickets include select beers (sponsored by Banko Beverage) and soda with admission and door prizes. The 2019 King and Queen, Phillip and Kimberly Ferguson, will be introduced. Winners of the 2019 Parade Poster Contest will be announced. Music is by deejay John Harvey. The event is open to the public. Children under 12 are free. Tickets include select beers and soda. A Food Drive for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley will be held at the fundraiser; Coronation Celebration and Irish Cultural Community Day, March 15 and 16, respectively, at the Agri-Plex, Allentown Fairgrounds. Grocery bags will be distributed door-to-door in the West End neighborhood the week before the parade. Spectators along the parade route are to donate a nonperishable food item.

The Parade Pub Crawl, celebrating 11 years in 2019, starts at 5 p.m. March 9 in West End Allentown, including Jack Callaghan’s Ale House, Tavern on Liberty Street, The Roost of Allentown, Volpe’s Sports Bar, Shanty on 19th, Fairgrounds Hotel, Sleepy Cat Urban Winery, and Greg’s West End Saloon. A donation includes a 62nd Parade commemorative T-shirt.

The flag of the Republic of Ireland will be raised at 11:45 a.m. March 15, City Hall Plaza, 435 Hamilton St., Allentown. There will be a salute by the Mackay Pipe Band and remarks by John A. Chaya, President, Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, Inc., and Allentown Mayor Raymond O’Connell.

Phillip and Kimberly Ferguson will be crowned the 2019 King and Queen of the Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade at the Coronation Celebration, 7:30 p.m. March 15, Agri-Plex, Allentown Fairgrounds, 19th and Liberty streets, Allentown.

The 6th Annual Irish Cultural Community Day, presented by the West End Alliance, is noon-4 p.m. March 16, Agri-Plex. The family-friendly, free event includes Irish dance, hurling, Celtic games, art, bagpipe, fiddle, and ceili. New this year is a Celtic Highland Games competition for children, with three events and prizes in multiple age categories.

A Mass for St. Patrick will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Alfred A. Schlert, Bishop of the Allentown Diocese, at 9:15 a.m. March 17, Immaculate Conception Church, 501 Ridge Avenue, Allentown. There will be a procession led by the MacKay Bagpipe Band that includes former Parade Kings and Queens, and the 2019 King and Queen.

The West End Alliance sponsors a 5K run, 12:15 p.m. March 17, starting and ending at Muhlenberg College, Allentown. Prizes will be awarded. To register: westendstpats5k.com. Proceeds support neighborhood development and beautification in the West End Theatre District. The race has raised more than $75,000 for the West End Alliance since 2009.

A Massed Bands Exhibition, under the direction of Drum Major Jason Litz, takes place before the Parade at 1 p.m. March 17 along North 19th Street between Tilghman and Liberty streets.

The 2019 Allentown St. Patrick’s Parade Committee is again hosting a house decorating-porch party contest March 17. Residents of homes along the parade route are encouraged to participate. Prizes will be awarded.

The Parade forms at the Allentown Fairgrounds track near the 19th and Liberty streets gate and proceeds west on Liberty, north on 19th Street, west on Tilghman Street to 25th Street, south on 25th Street to Liberty Street, east on Liberty Street and disbands at the Fairgrounds 19th Street gate. The Parade will include the 2019 King and Queen riding in a white coach drawn by a team of Belgium horses followed by Parade divisions each led by a pipe band.
