SALISBURY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The Salisbury Township Sewage Enforcement Officer has been reappointed.

By a 4-0 vote, with one commissioner absent, the Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to appoint Scott Beiber of Lehigh Soils and Wetlands, 6071 St. Peters Road, Emmaus, as the primary township sewage enforcement officer.

Commissioner Joanne Ackerman made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Rodney Conn, to advance the resolution to a vote.

The resolution authorizes the township sewage enforcement officer to perform soil testing for sewage planning purposes and to sign the false-swearing statement in the planning module.

The sewage enforcement officer is authorized to collect related fees and submit the fees to the township on a regular basis.

The township remits fees to the sewage enforcement officer for services rendered, except for a $50 administration fee.

The fee schedule applies to new and repair-replacement sewage systems, the resolution states.

In addition, the sewage enforcement officer is to provide the township with a project summary upon completion of each project or furnish the board of commissioners and township manager with reports, information or estimates of township sewage enforcement work and-or respond to questions in his or her official capacity.

The sewage enforcement officer is paid on an hourly basis as outlined in the fee schedule or as mutually agreed-upon between the township sewage enforcement officer and the board of commissioners for work performed.

The resolution also appointed as alternate sewage enforcement officers Charyn Ayoub of Lehigh Soils and Wetlands, and Gregory C. Gray, Christopher A. Taylor and Jacob A. Schray, the latter three of Hanover Engineering Associates.

The appointees’ term, which began Jan. 24, expires Jan. 1, 2020, or until successors are appointed.

In other business at the Jan. 24 meeting, commissioners voted 4-0 to approve a motion for payment No. 2 of $11,309.22 to MJF Electrical Construction for Lindberg Park Phase 3 contracted work.

Conn made the motion, seconded by Ackerman, to bring the motion to a vote.

Prior to the vote, Salisbury Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich said of the Lindberg Park electrical work, “It’s primarily the wiring for the restroom and pavilion structure.”

A new pavilion and restrooms are part of the final phase of the Lindberg Park Master Plan. The project is expected to be completed by June 16.

“I’m pleasantly surprised that they’ve been able to continue while the weather has been iffy,” Bonaskiewich said.
