Robert B. Geiger

Robert B. Geiger, 87, of Germansville, died peacefully Jan. 31, 2019, surrounded by his family.

He and his wife Ruth A. (Snyder) Geiger were married 60 years last June.

Born in Saegersville, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Roma E. (Peters) Geiger.

He was a farmer all his life at Geiger Farms, first for his father, then as a partner with his brother, and finally with his wife.

He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township, where he sang with the choir.

An active director of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society, he was a member of Central Grange 1650, Germansville, for more than 70 years and a life member of Ontelaunee Rod and Gun Club, Lynn Township.

A member of the Heidelberg Game Protective Association, the Junior Order of American Mechanics New Tripoli 204, and a life member of both the Germansville and New Tripoli fire companies.

His other memberships included Slatington Lodge 440 F.&A.M., Allen-Beauceant Commandery No. 20 Knights Templar, Slatington Royal Arch Chapter 292, Rajah Shrine, Reading, and he was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Lehigh Consistory.

A 1949 graduate of Slatington High School, he played in the band and at that time, he also participated in the Egypt Band and the New Tripoli Male Chorus.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson, and he enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing and clamming.

He loved hosting clam bakes for his friends and workers on the farm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Anne L., wife of Robert Hicks Jr. of Saegersville and Susan R., wife of Gary Day, of Germansville; grandchildren Erynn, Samuel and Claudia Day, Elizabeth Moyer and husband, Sean, Robbie Hicks; and great-grandson, Jack Robert.

He was predeceased by his brother, Reuben.

His services will be private.

Interment at Heidelberg Cemetery, Heidelberg Township.
