Sally A. Hendricks

Sally A. Hendricks, 77, of Emmaus, formerly of Zionsville, died Jan. 21, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospice House. She was the wife of the late David O. Hendricks, who died March 1, 2016. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Bernadine (Rice) and Nelson Bruder.

She had a love for all animals. She raised and bred Great Danes for many years. She also raised and showed quarter horses alongside her husband, who formerly owned Hendricks and Sons Auto Center of Emmaus, until he retired and handed the reigns over to their two sons.

She was a caring midwife to a small herd of beef cows along with her husband and son-in-law, William with HP Cattle Co. She wasn’t afraid of hard work and went out many nights with her flashlight checking on pregnant mommies and babies.

She loved having her nails done and always walked into Artisans Salon and Day Spa with a smile.

Her true passion was gardening and she was happiest digging in her flower beds. She raised orchids and at one time had 150 in her home. She worked at Dan Schantz Greenhouse for many years and loved helping customers with their gardening needs.

She loved Mario Lanza since she was a teenager and often wondered if anyone would ever top him in the next century. The other loves of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sixth great-grandchild was born days before her death.

She is survived by daughters, Robin and her husband Kevin Balliet, of Emmaus, Kelly and her husband William A. Pearsall, of Emmaus; sons, Hunter and his wife RuthAnn, of Emmaus and Daniel D., of Emmaus; sisters, Linda Carter and Judy Kominsky; brother, Lee Bruder; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Brenda Newhart.
