Coplay: Democratic club organizes for 2019

The Edward M. Kennedy Democratic Association, aka Coplay Democratic Club, was founded in 1930 as the Woodrow Wilson Democratic Association. The membership unanimously changed the CDC name in 2006.

The CDC held its annual reorganization meeting in January. The CDC has a full slate of officers for 2019. All offices have a one-year term.

The 2019 officers are as follows:

Trustees - James Danko, Theresa Roth, Cynthia Leiner and Natalie Reichl

Executive offices - Karen Shields, secretary; Frank Reichl, treasurer; Cadie Bandura, vice president; and Bill Leiner, president

The 2019 focus of the CDC is to work toward a local election “blue wave” patterned after the big “blue wave” the nation experienced in the 2018 Congressional elections. There is an effort to increase membership and enlarge its footprint in Coplay civic affairs.

A representative of the CDC has been active with Coplay’s 150th anniversary committee. There will be an effort to have a presence at the annual Coplay Community Days, which is held in August.

“I am gratified that we have a full team of officers for 2019. We look forward to increasing our activities in Coplay and having further electoral success in 2019,” Bill Leiner said.

The next CDC meeting is planned for late April or early May; the date and location are to be announced. It will be a meet the candidates meeting.
