Heidelberg reorganizes with few changes

David Fink was named temporary board chairman when Heidelberg Township reorganized on Jan. 7.

Steve Bachman retained his position as chairman of the supervisors’ board.

Jonathan Jakum was named vice chairman.

Janice Meyers will continue as secretary-treasurer for this year.

Township solicitors will be Charles Waters and Keith Strohl from the law firm of Steckel and Stopp, Slatington.

Chris Noll of Keystone Consulting Engineers, Wescosville, was named township engineer.

Priscilla Brennan and Brian Alnutt were appointed to the planning commission. Andrew Toth was added to the zoning hearing board.

Dawn Didra will serve on the Environmental Advisory Council. Brennan will chair the EAC.

Jay Scheffler was named a member of the municipal building code board of appeals.

Keystone Consulting Engineers will serve as sewage enforcement officer, building inspector, plumbing inspector, electrical inspector and building code official.

Scott Bieber was appointed as building, plumbing and electrical inspector.

Phyllis Breininger was appointed delegate to the Lehigh Tax Collection Committee.

Jakum will serve as director of office operations, with Fink as director of public works and Bachman as director of Parks and Recreation and township representative to the Northwestern Recreation Commission.

Jakum and Fink will be alternates to the commission.

Supervisors, township administrator, road superintendent and zoning officer were approved to attend the annual Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors convention April 14-17 in Hershey. Didra will be the voting delegate.

Use of a private car for work related matters will be paid at the IRS rate per mile.

The pension contribution for workers will be 10 percent of their annual gross wage.

Supervisors meetings were scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21, March 21, April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.

Planning commission meeting were set for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28, Feb. 25, March 25, April 29, May 20, June 24, July 29, Aug. 26, Sept. 30, Oct. 28, Nov. 25 and Dec. 30.

Zoning Hearing Board meetings, as needed, were scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16.

EAC members will meet 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12, March 12, April 6, May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10.
