Former police officer enters race for district judge position

Todd P. Heffelfinger, a retired Whitehall Township police officer, has announced his candidacy for the upcoming magisterial district judge race in the 31-1-07 Judicial District, which encompasses Whitehall Township and the Borough of Coplay. Heffelfinger received his certificate as a magisterial district judge in December of 2017.

Heffelfinger, 56, is a 25-1/2-year veteran of Whitehall Township Police Department. Since retiring in December 2015, Heffelfinger has been employed by Lehigh County Sheriff’s Department as a full-time deputy sheriff.

Heffelfinger’s campaign will emphasize being fair, neutral and unbiased while performing the duties of a magisterial district judge. The citizens of Whitehall Township and the Borough of Coplay who live and work within the district deserve this type of individual for the position of magisterial district judge, he said.

During his career, Heffelfinger was a member of the patrol division and the accident reconstruction team.

He graduated from Whitehall High School and Lehigh County Technical Institute as a member of the Class of 1980. Heffelfinger also holds an associate degree in criminal justice administration from Lehigh County Community College. He is also a graduate of the first Pennsylvania State Sheriff’s Academy and the Allentown Police Academy.

Among his numerous letters of commendation and awards, Heffelfinger also received the Victor Talotta Memorial Scholarship while attending Lehigh County Community College.

Heffelfinger was active in his community, coaching his son’s baseball teams with Schadt Avenue Playground Association from 2001 to 2011. He is a member of Jones-Quigg American Legion in Hokendauqua and is also a life member of Fullerton Fire Hall social club.

He was born and raised in Coplay. He later moved to Whitehall Township, where he currently resides with his wife, Sandi, of 25 years, and his two children, Brooke and Trevor.
