Candidate workshop

To The Editor,

We in the League of Women Voters of Lehigh County are hoping for a robust, competitive election this year. We will be choosing our fellow citizens to represent us on school boards and city, borough, and township boards. County officials and judges and district justices will also be on the ballot.

A first-time candidate for a local office does not have the knowledge or resources enjoyed by those running for state or federal positions. To help novice candidates, we are holding a workshop on Saturday, January 26, to explain the paperwork requirements, and to discuss the challenges of an election and effective campaign techniques used by previous successful candidates.

We offer this popular event before municipal elections. This year’s workshop is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the DeSales University Center, 2755 Station Ave., Center Valley, PA 18034. We have recruited a variety of people from the Lehigh Valley area, from both major political parties, to discuss their experiences, share their knowledge, and answer questions. Candidates not affiliated with a major party will also learn from the presentations.

For any first-time candidate this is the perfect place to explore the nuts and bolts of the process and to learn how to manage a campaign effectively.

More information and the registration flyer is on the “Running for Local Office” webpage in “Upcoming Events” on www.lwvlehighcounty.org
