LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Whitehall Township Public Library: Adult reading program at library continues until March 23

We kicked off our adult winter reading program Jan. 7. The theme this year is “Reading Cures the Winter Blues.”

Sign up at the front desk and get your reading log and reading challenge sheet. All you need to do is sign up with your name and phone number, keep track of all the books you read or listen to and submit the log by 5 p.m. March 23.

This program is open to anyone 18 and older. Stop by the library and pick up a book or two.

There will be a wrap-up party 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. March 26. Any program participant who reads at least one book and returns a reading log will receive a small gift.

The third Monday open mic and jam will be held 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21. Thank you to Rocking the Valley Online Radio for its support.

Entertainers interested in performing three songs or a 15-minute set are asked to sign up before 6:30 p.m. Musicians, singers, poets, comedians, actors, writers and storytellers are invited to come show off your stuff, or just come and be part of the audience!

The second and fourth Tuesday adult coloring club will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 22. Anyone 18 and older is welcome to join us.

The library has some supplies but invites you to bring your own as well.

The What Are You Reading Now? book club meets 1 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Patrons are invited to chat about whatever books they are reading at the moment - the ones you loved, the ones you hated and everything in between.

***

The beading club will be meeting 1:30 p.m. every Monday and Thursday in the reference area.

Just a reminder the library opens 9 a.m. every morning now. The new hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Stop by and pick up a magnet with the new hours on it.

The library will be part of the new Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative. This will mean more resources and services for patrons to use and share among other libraries. We will be creating a one-card system by February. Watch for more information and fliers at the library.

The SPARK libraries include Whitehall Township Public Library, Coplay Public Library, Public Library of Catasauqua, Emmaus Public Library, Parkland Community Library, Slatington Library, Lower Macungie Public Library, Southern Lehigh Public Library, Dimmick Memorial Public Library, Lehighton Area Memorial Library and Palmerton Area Library.

Patrons will have one library card and will be able to use it at any of the 11 partnering libraries. You may borrow materials from one and return it to another library listed above. If you need a book from one of the LCLC libraries, we will deliver it to a participating library for you.

We are proud and happy to be able to offer these services for our patrons and to share the free resources between our neighboring libraries.
