LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q. Who is in your family?

A. My parents’ names are Paul and Denise and I have two sisters. My older sister’s name is Alexis and my younger sister is Elizabeth. Also, I have two dogs, May and Cinnamon, as well as a cat named Macy and multiple pet fish.

Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior at Emmaus High School?

A. I enjoy multiple things about being a senior – it’s so hard to choose just one! I enjoy having late arrival so I can sleep later in the morning, as well as having a guaranteed parking space at EHS. Also, I love knowing that this is my final year of high school and I had room in my schedule to take classes that I wanted to take just for fun.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is science, especially earth sciences, because I love learning how the world came to be the way it is today. Science makes you question how various features form and how they impact your daily life. It’s so cool to see how science is all around you and it’s always good to know what you’re staring at and why the certain thing is there when you go on trips to see different areas of the world. I have taken some pretty unique science classes the last two years, including astronomy, geology of national parks, oceanography and meteorology, which all have been really fun.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have received multiple academic and athletic awards throughout my time in high school. I have achieved Principal’s Honor Roll every marking period thus far. I am a member of National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. Additionally, I have received student of the month for the science department. For cross country, I received the Elke Fisher Memorial Award for showing the most sportsmanship, as well as being voted the Player’s Player Award by my teammates.

Q. What are your favorite extracurricular activities?

A. My favorite extracurricular activities include cross country, winter and spring track. I get to hang out and run with my amazing teammates, while staying fit at the same time.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school, I will be attending Shippensburg University to major in early childhood education and special education. Additionally, I will be running cross country and track there. I hope to do well in school and in running, as well as being the best role model to my students in the future.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge to date would be that I have a hard time accepting anything less than the best. I always want to give everything my all and do really well in school, as well as my extracurricular activities. However, there have been multiple times when something does not go my way, whether that be a bad test score or slow race time. Despite getting upset, I remind myself that everything cannot be perfect all the time and that nobody is able to learn anything if they were not challenged and failed sometimes.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as someone who is kind, helpful and friendly to others. I always want the best for other people and strive to be the most supportive classmate and teammate possible.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my parents, because they have always been there for me and helped me along my journey in school. Also, I admire every single teacher I have ever had because each one of them has made an impact on my life and got me to this point today. Teachers spend their days making sure kids have the tools and knowledge to succeed and are extremely supportive. They are a major influence as to why I want to be a teacher too.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Keep up with your school work, but make sure you save time to have fun. High school goes by fast so enjoy it and find extracurricular activities to join, whether that be a sport or club, because you are going to meet lifelong friends who share the same interests as you. Be kind to everyone because you do not know what’s going on in their lives. Finally, don’t stress too much about school and grades and savor every moment of success.
