Emmaus High School will be closed Jan. 21.
Midterm exams will be held Jan. 22, 23 and 24. Jan. 22 is periods one, two and three. Jan. 23 is periods four, five and six. Jan. 24 is periods seven, eight and nine. If students have an exam, they are expected to be there for that exam.
Transportation is provided at the normal time in the morning for the first exam starting 7:23 a.m. Transportation home is also provided for students 1 p.m. If students do not have transportation, the library is open for a quiet study session or the cafeteria for a normal study hall. Vacation will not be approved and if a student is absent, only a doctor’s note will be accepted. The note will need to be taken immediately upon return to Ms. Rodriguez’s office which is located directly across from the auditorium in the lobby. Lunch is provided between the second and third exam on all midterm exam days.
Congratulations to sophomore Jonas Haussman. By unanimous vote, Jonas was appointed a junior council member for Emmaus Borough Council.
A coffeehouse will be held in Cafeteria 1, 7 p.m. Jan. 18. Table snacks will be provided and coffee and baked goods will be available for purchase. If you would like to perform but have not had a chance to audition yet, contact the orchestra director, Mrs. Arnold at carnold@eastpennsd.org.
The Mud Club is accepting new members to decorate empty bowls for the club’s annual fundraiser. Come to Room 520 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. every Tuesday.
All FBLA members planning on going to states in April need to have their registration fee turned in by Jan. 16. See Google Classroom for details.
The U.S. Marine Corps will visit EHS 1 p.m. Jan. 22.
The Emmaus Arts Commission is looking for student photographers to participate in this year’s EAC Photo Contest. Winners receive cash and prizes and there is a separate category just for students. Submissions are due by Jan. 25 at Emmaus Borough Hall. The contest is open now and submitted photos will be on display to the public during the SnowBlast Winter Arts Festival Feb. 2. Habitat for Humanity will host a Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebee’s on Cedar Crest Blvd. 8-10 a.m. Jan. 26. See Miss Russo in Room 513 for tickets.
The January Interact Club meeting will be held 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in the EHS cafeteria. Dinner will be provided. Students should RSVP.
The Health and Wellness/Fitness Club’s eighth annual dodge ball tournament will be held 6-9 p.m. Feb. 28 in the main and auxiliary gyms. If you are interested in playing, please see a health or wellness/fitness teacher to sign-up. All paperwork must be submitted by Feb. 7.
The 2019 Afterball will be held 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. May 3. The Afterball is the post prom party, held at EHS, designed to be a safe, fun, alcohol-free alternative for students that want to continue their celebration into the night. It is open to all seniors and their prom guests, even if they do not attend the prom. The students are entertained with food, music, games and prize raffles. The Afterball is funded by donations and run entirely by volunteers.
