Money donated by visitors to view the Christ’s Church at Lowhill’s Lights of Wonder presentations was recently given to the Autism Society, Lehigh Valley chapter.

Jason Ruhe, organist, is in charge of the Lights of Wonder program and, when a photo was taken of all those who helped with that presentation, there were many from the church family.

Wanda Kalusky and Cindy Smith do the outreach for the church.

Smith said they had the best attendance, 1,500, in the history of the program which began in 2014.

The light show involves lighted wreaths, trees and ropes flashing in combination with music. There was also an appearance by Santa Claus and dancing in the aisle.

Ruhe said they were presenting these gifts to the Autism Society.

Mimi Ludwig, president of the Autism Society, Lehigh Valley Chapter, said the donation comes when there is particular need.

She thanked the church as she received the $4,800 check from Corin Watt, church treasurer.

The total amount raised over the years through the Lights of Wonder is $18,000.

Pastor Chris Cocca said the church thinks of everyone as a resource and as family.

“We thank you for the generosity of everyone who came,” Cocca prayed.

For the children’s message, Cocca picked up a king from a small nativity scene and said there probably were more than three kings because they came a great distance to see the Baby Jesus.

They were foreigners who came with three gifts, so regardless of how many accompanied them, the number three for the visiting kings was apt to be accurate.

Christ’s Church at Lowhill is beginning a year-long celebration of its 250th anniversary.
