SALISBURY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

The backup generator is being replaced at a pumping station in Salisbury Township.

The Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners unanimously approved by a 5-0 vote at the Nov. 20, 2018, meeting a motion to award a $43,000 contract to Billitier Electric, Inc., Rochester, N.Y., for the Riverside Drive Pump Station Generator Upgrade Project.

Commissioner Joanne Ackerman made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Rodney Conn, to bring the matter to a vote.

The sewage pumping station is in the vicinity of Riverside Drive on the township’s east side. The generator being replaced is about 30 years old.

Effluent from several industrial businesses and the Lehigh County Community Correction Center in the vicinity of Riverside Drive is pumped to the City of Bethlehem Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Salisbury Township Engineer David J. Tettemer of Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc., contacted by a reporter for The Press, said it is expected to take about three months to receive the pump with installation expected in March or April.

At the Nov. 8, 2018, township meeting, commissioners in separate 5-0 votes, approved:

•Payment No. 1 of $89,801.87 to Insituform Technologies, LLC, for the 2018 Sanitary Sewer System Rehabilitation Mainline Cured-In-Place Pipe Lining Project. Ackerman made the motion, seconded by Commissioner James Seagreaves.

•Payment No. 3 of $357,339.54 to Barrasso Excavation, Inc., for the Paxinosa Avenue, Maumee Avenue and Montgomery Street Water Main Replacement Project. Ackerman made the motion, seconded by Conn.

•Payment No. 3 of $114,109.56 to Kobalt Construction, Inc., for Phase 3 work for Lindberg Park. Ackerman made the motion, seconded by Seagreaves.

•Payment No. 4 of $186,963.75 to Kobalt Construction, Inc., for Phase 4 work for Lindberg Park. Ackerman made the motion, seconded by Conn.

•Change Order No. 2 for Lindberg Park Phase 3 work. Ackerman made the motion, seconded by Seagreaves.

Also, at the Nov. 8, 2018 meeting, commissioners voted 5-0 to approve a resolution to accept the Lehigh Valley 2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan. Conn made the motion, seconded by board of commissioners Vice President Debra Brinton.

Township commissioners next meet 7 p.m. Jan. 10 in the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave.

The commissioners’ Dec. 27, 2018 meeting was canceled.

The township zoning hearing board Jan. 2 meeting was canceled.

The township planning commission met Jan. 8.
