During the Jan. 3 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, an agreement was made between Keycodes Inspection Agency/Keystone Code Consulting Enforcement and the township to provide building code enforcement services on a time and materials basis for one year.

Keycodes shall act as a township building code official and/or inspector and shall perform residential and commericial plan reviews in compliance “with and limited to the requirements of the ICC Code, the UCC Code and any other relevant township adopted codes. Keycodes shall perform residential (as an alternate) and all commerical field inspections (for all disciplines including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, energy, accessibilty and building, etc.) and commercial fire inspection.”

Keycodes will also provide administration functions regarding the above actions and will attend any township required meetings.

In other business, volunteers were appointed to various positions.

Jeffrey Machik was named to the Building Code Board of Appeals with a term to expire Jan. 1, 2022. The environmental advisory council had two members reappointed with terms to expire Jan. 1, 2022. The two returning members are Christopher Sacchi and Fred Learey. Fred Zahradnik was reappointed as chair of the EAC.

Robert Stein and Kristina Troxell were appointed to the historical commission with terms to expire Dec. 31, 2023. Amy Shannon, Martha Schwartz and James Windt were appointed to the parks and recreation board with terms expiring Dec. 31, 2023.

Michael Laible was appointed to the pension committee through Resolution 2019-01.

Amy Miller was appointed to the planning commission with a term ending Jan. 1, 2023. Scott Forbes and Michael Dattilio were appointed to the public safety commission with terms to expire Dec. 1, 2020.

Julie McDonell was appointed to the vacancy board with the term to expire the first Monday in January 2020. Charles Ervin was appointed to the zoning hearing board with the term to expire Dec. 31, 2021. Avery Smth was appointed as an alternate. These appointments were done through Resolution 2019-02.

The commissioners thanked the residents for their interest in the township.

A resident from Mill Creek Road thanked the board again for the speed humps. The resident reminded the board about a study completed after the speed humps were added.

A sewer planning module was approved for a property on Indian Creek Road. This sewer upgrade is to replace a failing sewer system on that property.

A resident from Waterfall Drive has a problem with drainage after a repaving to the street. Prior to the repaving, the water drained as it should. After the repaving, the drainage changed and water would travel toward the property. At one time, there was 32 inches of water in the garage, damaging two vehicles. The basement also had a major amount of water. The resident is looking for remedy of the drainage. There have been numerous calls made to the township but nothing has been remedied.
