Lehigh County Commissioners set salaries for row officers at their Dec. 18 meeting.

Row officers are elected county officials such as the controller, clerk of judicial records, sheriff and coroner.

The new salary schedule provides for annual increases for each office of about $1,000 per year through 2023.

Commissioners also approved a lease by Adams Outdoor Advertising for an outdoor sign at 101-119 E. Hamilton St., Allentown.

In other business, commissioners approved an amendment to the capital plan to include the purchase of a Ford Explorer for X-ray equipment for the coroner’s office.

Commissioners also approved giving a used vehicle to the Lehigh County Conservation District.

The two-span bridge located at Martin Luther King Boulevard and S. 6th Street is slated for replacement, according to Director of County Services Rick Molchany.

He said the cost will be $4 million to $5 million with about 5 percent of the cost to be met by the county.

According to Molchany, 80 percent of the project will be paid for with federal money and 15 percent will be paid by the state.

Molchany said he expects the bridge work to be completed in late 2019 or early 2020.

The county will continue to own the bridge.

Stephanie Brotzman-Savercool, Lehigh County Early Intervention service coordinator, spoke to Commissioners on behalf of children needing early intervention.

“Anyone qualified for our service gets our service,” Brotzman-Savercool said, adding autism now can be diagnosed by age 2.

She also noted her office is receiving more, and more-complex referrals.
