Rep. Justin Simmons, R-131st, recently announced two area career and technical schools have been awarded state funding totaling nearly $95,000 for equipment purchases to enhance their training programs.
The grants were made available through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, Schnecksville, received $50,000 to purchase equipment for its logistic management, consumer sciences, food worker and welding programs.
Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center, Royersford, was awarded $44,750 for its health services, rehab aide, dental assistant, security and cosmetology programs.
A total of $1.2 million in competitive grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Education was awarded to 38 career and technical centers and area vocational technical education schools recently.
