South Whitehall Twp holds annual tree lighting ceremony

South Whitehall Township had its annual tree and bridge lighting ceremony Dec. 1 at Covered Bridge Park.

Though turnout was somewhat low due to persistent rain throughout the day, those who did attend were treated to a magical evening of entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus.

South Whitehall Commissioners’ President Christina “Tori” Morgan and Paige Durflinger, recreation program specialist, opened the ceremony.

Singer and song writer Kevin Kehr performed acoustic holiday music, Librarian Jaclyn Hoimes, of Parkland Community Library, read “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” and dancers from Studio West Dance Center, Shannon Krische, director, danced to “Man with a Bag.”

Stilt walkers from Crufeli Sideshow and Entertainment, Jim Thorpe, were on hand to share in the holiday cheer.

Face painting was a popular activity, even among South Whitehall police.
