Cookies, crafts and Santa ... what could be better?

The craft tables at the annual Weisenberg Lowhill Historical Society Christmas Cookie and Soup Sale at Werleys Corner were filled with more crafts than in other years.

This was thanks to Debi Zvanut who went hunting for new items to interest the youth who came to the sale.

Chief among the crafts were trees and reindeer made of cork to be decorated with the variety of items Zvanut brought along with her.

The sale, on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, featured wreaths, made at Lyon Creek Farms, displayed on the porch of the historical society headquarters, formerly the original Zimmerman’s Hotel. Lighted wreaths were available or lights could be added to any of the wreaths.

In addition, there were some farm market items such as the salsa with tortilla chips handy for sampling.

The barroom of the old hotel offered hot dogs and beverages for people who came to choose their cookies.

The quilt was won by Keith Quier. The afghan and two pillows were won by Ann Wertman.

Tickets were sold earlier in the year and throughout the cookie sale.

The drawing was at the end of the day.
