School board reorganizes during special meeting

At a special Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting held 5 p.m. Dec. 4, board members voted to elect Wayne Grim as president and William Fonzone Sr. as vice president.

The board voted to approve the revised construction manager services agreement between D’Huy Engineering Inc. and Whitehall-Coplay School District to provide the Whitehall High School addition and renovations project with construction manager services.

The board accepted the resignations of Jeffrey Sommer, maintenance substitute employee; Nicole Burgos, bus driver; Melanie DeMelfy, WHS secretary; Calie Albitz, Whitehall-Coplay Middle School cafeteria employee and bus aide; Amanda DeFelice, paraeducator at Steckel Elementary School; and Marlene Schadler, bus driver.

New appointments included Miranda Dangler, WCMS librarian, at the rate of $48,165; Mary Nehme, long-term WHS Spanish substitute, at the rate of $150 per day; and Ann Hansen, WCMS emotional support paraprofessional, at $18.73 per hour.

The board approved Joshua Fick as adviser to the WHS Science Olympiad team, with the compensation of $925.

The next regular school board meeting will be held 7 p.m. Dec. 10. The next committee meetings will take place 4 p.m. Dec. 17 and will include operations/transportation, finance/personnel and education/student activities.
