John D. Miller, 51, died Nov. 19, 2018.

Born in Coaldale, he was a 1985 graduate of Whitehall High School and a 1989 graduate of Penn State University.

He had a fulfilling career as a sergeant for the Allentown Police Department from which he retired in March 2007.

He loved family, Penn State, the Dallas Cowboys and fishing off the dock in Ocean City, Md.

He enjoyed spending time watching his sons play baseball, creating incredible gourmet meals and gardening.

He had an off-the-wall sense of humor that those who knew him appreciated and will chuckle forever with great memories.

His survivors include his wife Marion; sons Andrew and Dominic; stepchildren Maddie and Jack Ligenza; parents Jack and Sandy Miller; sister Dana (Miller) Hackman and her husband, Trevor; niece Alexis and nephew Josh; and brother Dan and his wife Trish.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Central Pennsylvania Hummelstown, PA and/or to Mercy School for Special Learning, Allentown.
