William A. Vargo, 94, of Zionsville, died Nov. 15, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Rose M. (Schmaldinst) Vargo. They were married for 69 years. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Posh) Vargo.
He was a 1942 graduate of Emmaus High School.
He worked for Bethlehem Steel, Firestone Tire and retired in 1986 from Occidental Chemical.
He was a member of Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He honorably served his country in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
He was a member of Macungie VFW and Zionsville Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife; son, William J. and his wife Charlotte, of Emmaus; daughters, Patricia A. and her husband Barry Ritter, of Emmaus and Mary Ellen L., and her husband Michael Banyas, of Macungie; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild to be born in December; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to the church or to a charity of choice.
