BASD: Repsher named safety coordinator

City of Bethlehem Deputy Chief of Police Todd Repsher has been appointed and accepted the position as the BASD Coordinator of School Safety and Emergency Management.

He will oversee the district’s new position continuing crisis planning and training, emergency communications, school facility security, compliance monitoring and coordination with local first responders.

The 27-year law enforcement veteran has extensive community police officer, criminal investigations, emergency response team and public safety, including that of threat assessment, experience.

FHS, LHS bands open PASA-PSBA

On October 17, the Freedom Patriot and Liberty Grenadier high school bands performed together to open the PASA-PSBA School Leadership Conference in Hershey.

FHS: ‘Christmas Carol’ opens Nov. 29

EHMS: Band in Philadelphia parade

The East Hills Middle School Band and Band Front will be playing in the 2019 6ABC Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is the 100th anniversary of the parade.

NEMS: Childrens book to benefit PUMAS

Proceeds from the book, “A Suit for Santa,” by Kathleen Sell Kunsman, with illustrations by BASD art teacher Deanna Korhammer, will benefit NEMS’s PUMAS Encore Team. The holiday poem is about Santa’s reindeer, who advise him that he needs a new suit. Santa has a hard time deciding what to buy and decides to go for a new look, but, his reindeer don’t recognize him! What should Santa do? Charter Arts: Dance Soup Nov. 16, 17

The Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts presents the annual student-choreographed Dance Soup concert. Directed by Jennifer Dite-Weaver, there will be nearly 30 pieces of work from a variety of genres of dance with wide-ranging musical selections.

Evening performances will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17 and a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at the school, 321 E. Third St. Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.CharterArts.org or at the door.

Charter Arts: ‘Business of Music’ workshop Nov. 27

Pear Duo, a piano and vocal team, will present an open to the public “The Business of Music” workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Lehigh Valley Charter HS for the Arts, 321 E. Third St.

Curtis Brengle (piano) and Julie Ragins (vocals), based in Los Angeles for nearly three decades, tour, record and perform jazz, rock, and pop with well-known artists.

Topics include identifying who you are and your goals; recognizing and creating opportunities; branding, marketing and exposure; the new resume; and skills to get and keep a gig - including the top 20 ways to lose a gig. There is a cost, For tickets, call 610 868-2971, extension 3185.
