Allentown Halloween parade winners announced

An estimated crowd of 10,000 spectators enjoyed a mix of sun and clouds, floats, bands and marchers Oct. 14 at the Allentown Halloween Parade.

The parade, established in 1905 and believed to be one of the oldest in the nation, was full of childhood characters and whimsical costumes, adhering to this year’s theme, “Storybook Favorites.”

A panel of judges evaluated participants in two categories: floats and marchers.

Parade judges were City Council members Cynthia Mota and Courtney Robinson, and Board of Recreation members Hugh Gallagher, Hamp Smith, David Woodward and Rebecca Kiss.

Judging criteria included presentation, creativity, enthusiasm and fitting the theme.

Winners in the floats category were first place, Kory Rabenold Production; second place, NYAA Cheerleading and third place, Cub Scout Pack 146.

Winners in the marchers category were first place, Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs of the LV; second place, Girl Scout Troop 6169, and third place, Inafrodios New Project.

Winners received monetary prizes.

Dance and performance groups XCAPE, and Small Steps, Big Dreams and marching bands receive a stipend for participating.

Parade spectators and participants are encouraged to use the Facebook and Twitter tag “#hallentownparade” to post their pictures from Allentown’s parade.
