UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN

The Upper Milford Historical Society is having its first-ever special event; a performance/lecture by The Jameson Sisters, celebrating “The History of Thanksgiving and Christmas Music.” The program will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Upper Milford Township building, Old Zionsville. There is a cost for tickets, which will be available at the township building, by calling 610-967-2092 or at the door that evening. The Jameson Sisters play the harp, mandolin and guitar, performing many styles of music with vocals and are best known for their traditional Celtic programs. They have performed at hundreds of venues across Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey and locally. It will be an evening of light, lilting music with laughter, featuring Christmas music from every century.

The historical society will not hold regular meetings in November and December.

Church bazaars are a great way to start your Christmas shopping and there are a couple scheduled Nov. 10 in the area you may want to check out.

Old Zionsville UCC, 5981 Fountain Road, is holding its 22nd annual bazaar and filled basket auction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Unique gifts will be available for Christmas or any other occasion. Come browse through the many crafters and vendors. Check out the great auction baskets and buy tickets to win your favorites. Enjoy a delicious lunch (chicken pot pie, potato corn soup and more) and don’t forget the bake sale. For more information, call the church office at 610-966-3601.

St. Peters Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, is holding its fall bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the same day, featuring raffles, craft and vendor tables and lots of good food. There will be soups, barbecues, chicken pot pie, baked goods and a light lunch.

Registration for Upper Milford Youth Association winter basketball is now open through Nov. 19. There are limited spots on each team and there is a cost.

The programs are: First and second grade coed instructional; third and fourth grade recreational girls; third and fourth grade recreational boys; fifth and sixth grade recreational girls; fifth and sixth grade recreational boys; seventh and eighth grade recreational girls; seventh and eighth grade recreational boys.

Hours of operation of the Upper Milford Township yard waste site during leaf cleanup are as follows: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. but no later than one-half hour past dusk Wednesdays; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays; noon to 4 p.m. Sundays and closed on holidays.

St. Peters Church will hold its annual joint Thanksgiving Eve service with Huff’s Union Church 7 p.m. Nov. 21. It will be at Huff’s Union this year.

The Vera Cruz Community Association meets 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the fire company. All are welcome. For information, contact Betsy Eltz at 610-965-8627.

The Upper Milford Fire Company’s ladies auxiliary meets 7 p.m. Dec. 3. New members are always welcome.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Citizens Fire Company of Vera Cruz will meet 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Vera Cruz Fire Department Social Hall.

Vera Cruz senior citizens meet 1 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Vera Cruz Fire Company. All are welcome.

Lower Milford Township supervisors will hold a meeting 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15.

Other Lower Milford meetings are as follows; unless otherwise noted, they will begin 7:30 p.m.: recreation and open space board, Nov. 14; historical commission, Nov. 13; planning commission workshop, 7 p.m. Nov. 15; zoning hearing board, 7 p.m. Nov. 28.

Upper Milford supervisors will meet 7 p.m. Nov. 15.

The Upper Milford Planning Commission will hold a workshop meeting 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13.

The recreation commission meets 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19. The Joint Environmental Advisory Council will meet 7 p.m. Nov. 26 in Upper Milford. The open space committee meets 7 p.m. Nov. 14. The emergency services committee meets 7 p.m. Nov. 21.
