Q. Who is in your family?

A. My parents, Betsy (mother) and Don (stepfather), Barry (father) and Amie (stepmother); siblings: Brynn, Julia, Tina, Jimmy and Lena and pets Gabby (golden doodle) and Riley (beagle).

Q. What do you most enjoy about being a senior?

A. There are many perks to being a senior. There are too many benefits to choose just one. I like visiting different college campuses in order to decide where I will be spending the next four years of my life. I am able to drive to school with a guaranteed senior parking space which allows me to wake up a half hour later. I have the early dismissal privilege in which I can leave a period early.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject would have to be biology. I have taken two courses and it is one of the subjects that captures my interest when I study for tests. Biology is one of the cornerstones of scientific knowledge and growth, and innovations are discovered daily. I believe that biology will provide me with many options in the future.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have been part of the Principal’s Honor Roll throughout my time at Emmaus. I am a recipient of the College Board’s AP Scholar Award, Excellence in Economics Award, Excellence in Academics Award and Excellence in Computer Science Competitions Award. I have made it to the state competition for National History Day. I am a member of National Honor Society and I was the runner-up at Emmaus Rotary Club’s 4-Way Speech Contest last year. I am in the German Honor Society and improved my understanding of the German culture as an exchange student in Bamberg, Germany last summer.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A. I am involved in many clubs including Debate Team, Academic Team, National Honor Society, Model United Nationals and Interact Club. I play baseball for the Lower Macungie Youth Association and I have played baseball and soccer since kindergarten. I also volunteer at St. Luke’s Hospital Allentown, enjoy skiing and I am a member of First Presbyterian Church in Allentown.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I plan to go to college after high school and major in a biology pre-medical program. I would like to work in the medical field just like my grandfather, grandmother, mother and uncle.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. One of my biggest challenges has been joining the Debate Team. After numerous recruiting attempts by a very passionate captain, I decided to give it a try. Public speaking has never been one of my strengths. With many practices, I gained confidence and really started to have fun. We debate everything from politics to sports and it never gets old.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as a helpful and respectful student and classmate. Whether it is tutoring one of my siblings or texting a classmate about our homework assignment, I try to be as helpful as possible. I want to be remembered by my teachers as a mature and hardworking student that is an active and smart participant in class.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. I admire my grandfather who was a family physician in Emmaus for many years. He makes time to come to my soccer and baseball games, as well as many of my cousins’ games. He was also able to serve East Penn School District as a physician in addition to managing his own practice. My grandfather is a major influence with what I want to pursue for my education and career.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Find your strengths, work toward your goals and commit to them fully. Do well on the things you have to do, but master the things you love to do.
