Cmdr. Scott A. Wastak, formerly of Allentown, assumed command of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron One Two Zero (VAW-120) relieving Cmdr. Michael D. France as commanding officer in a ceremony at Norfolk Naval Station, Chambers Field recently.

France, a Navy pilot from Memphis, Tenn., has commanded the Greyhawks since April 2017. His next assignment is Deputy Commander, Airborne Command, Control, and Logistics Wing.

Wastak, a flight officer, most recently served on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, D.C. He will now command more than 580 sailors and 200 civilians assigned to VAW-120 operating and maintaining 22 aircrafts.

The Greyhawks are the Navy’s Fleet Replacement Squadron whose mission is to train future pilots, naval flight officers and naval air crewmen to fly and operate the E-2C/D Hawkeye/Advanced Hawkeye airborne early warning, command and control aircraft, and the C-2A Greyhound Carrier Onboard Delivery aircraft.

The Greyhawks are based at Norfolk Naval Air Station.
