In recognition of National Veterans Small Business Week, Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-134th, has updated information on his Pennsylvania Startups for Soldiers program to help veteran and reservist entrepreneurs.

The Startups for Soldiers program, created by legislation written by Mackenzie, waives state business startup fees for those transitioning to the civilian workforce from the United States military. Those serving in reserve units and the National Guard also are eligible.

The program is modeled on a similar program in Missouri.

Since January 2017, more than 3,700 veterans and reservists business owners in Pennsylvania have saved $416,000 in business startup and licensing fees, according to Mackenzie.

National Veterans Small Business Week continues through Nov. 9. The recognition hopes to raise awareness of veteran business ownership and encourage communities to support veteran- and military-owned business.
