They’re not scruffy, they’re fundraising Upper Macungie police growing beards to help others

The Upper Macungie Township Police Department is once again taking part in “No Shave November.”

Officers were granted special permission to forego shaving Nov. 1 to Dec. 1 in lieu of donations that will be divided between two special organizations: Lehigh Valley Children’s Hospital and Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley.

Officers who participate will wear silicone bracelets designating they are participating, and they must donate $50 to the cause.

Officers who participate will be charged a “penalty” if they shave before the end of the initiative.

The police need the community’s help. Individuals or business employees can grow beards (be sure to send pictures to the police department) or make a donation by sponsoring an officer.

Make a donation in the amount of one’s choice and write in the note line which officer is being supported and why.

This year, the police department will post progress photos of sponsored officers on the department’s Facebook page facebook.com/UMTPD and Instagram @uppermacungietwppolice.

Donations may be made at gofundme.com/pvuhae-umtpd-no-shave-november.
