A 1960 Parkland High School graduate died in a Nov. 2 crash on Route 248 at the Route 873 intersection, Lehigh Township.
Richard Bowman, 76, of Pen Argyl, was killed in the crash which occurred just after 5 a.m.
Lehigh Township police say a Kenworth tractor-trailer was eastbound on Route 248 when a gray Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by Bowman, attempted to turn onto Route 873 from Route 248 westbound.
Bowman drove into the path of the rig at the intersection.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck was Ryan Roberts, 32, of Duryea, who was driving for Northeast Cartage LLC of Shavertown.
According to a witness, the eastbound traffic of Route 248 had a green light when the crash occurred.
The Lehigh Township Police Crash Reconstruction Team and Motor Carrier inspector were called to the scene.
Police were assisted by Lehigh Township firefighters and fire police.
Following graduation from Parkland High School, Bowman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Stroudsburg State College.
He was a mathematics teacher, football coach and a baseball coach, briefly working at Northwestern High School, and later working in the same capacity at Pen Argyl High School, until his retirement in 2002.
He and his wife, Susan, were incorporators of Forgotten Felines and Fidos Inc., now in Germansville.
