Northampton man dies in Lehigh Township crash

A Northampton man died Nov. 4 in a motor vehicle accident that occurred approximately 10:43 a.m. in the 4200 block of Lehigh Drive (Route 248) in Lehigh Township.

According to a news release, Lehigh Township Police Department said officers were called to the scene for a two-vehicle fatal crash involving entrapment and injuries.

In the report, police said a silver Subaru Forester had been traveling westbound and collided head-on with a dark green Kia Sedona, which was traveling eastbound. The driver and sole occupant of the Subaru died upon impact. The driver was identified as David Ahn Jr., 38, of Howertown Road.

The Kia Sedona was driven by Howard Bachman, 53, of Deer Path Road, Lehigh Township. Ida Bachman, 55, was a passenger in the vehicle, as was another female whose age was not given, so she will not be named by The Press.

Injuries to the occupants of the Kia ranged from minor to severe, the report said.

Township police were assisted by Lehigh Township Fire Department and Fire Police, Northampton Regional EMS, St. Luke’s EMS, Lehighton EMS and East Allen Township EMS. The coroner’s office of Northampton County assisted with the investigation.
