LOWHILL TOWNSHIP: Winter Light Spectacular at zoo to light up night sky on Nov. 9

Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville, and Christmas Décor will be kicking off its fifth season of the Winter Light Spectacular 5:30-10 p.m. Nov. 9.

This season will feature 37 scheduled events Wednesday through Sunday nights Nov. 9 through Dec. 30.

There will be no showings on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, is accepting orders until Nov. 11 for its candy sale.

Pick up will be 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 8.

Choose from either a half-pound or pound of light or dark peanut clusters, raisin clusters, cashew patties, peanut butter, coconut crème, molasses coconut, caramels, light covered pretzels, dark chocolate crème filled peanut roll and more.

The church is accepting orders for its Christmas tree remembrance balls Nov. 11 to Dec. 16.

Choose between red, blue, green, silver, gold balls or a gold star.

The Women’s Guild is collecting hats, scarves, mittens and gloves for all ages.

The items will be distributed to Sayre Children’s Center, Hamburg Center, Gracedale, KidsPeace and the Allentown Rescue Mission.

Morgenland is accepting monetary donations until Nov. 25 for National Wreaths Across America.

The money will be used to purchase additional wreaths.

The National Wreaths Across American Remembrance ceremony is scheduled for noon Dec. 15 at the Morgenland Union Cemetery, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield.

Christ’s Church at Lowhill, 4695 Lowhill Church Road, New Tripoli, is having a chicken potpie dinner 4-7 p.m. Nov. 10.

Meal includes potpie with homemade noodles, lettuce with bacon dressing, or tossed salad or applesauce, dinner roll, beverage and dessert.

There will be live entertainment 5:30-7 p.m. featuring guitar player and singer Rob Ballonoff.

Christ’s Church is sponsoring a New York City bus trip.

The bus departs 10 a.m. Nov. 16 from the church parking lot and returns approximately 10 p.m.
