Roberts takes 18th at District 11 meet

Whitehall junior Devon Roberts was in it to win it last week at the District XI Class 3A Cross Country Championships last Wednesday at Bethlehem Municipal Golf Course, finishing 18th with a time of 20:41.92.

“I felt excited after this race,” Roberts said. “I really pushed myself.”

Although Roberts did not advance to states, she has one more year to reach that goal and will know how to accomplish that.

“I was more mentally tough this week, especially when people told me what place I was in, and especially when I thought I could make states. My teammates and coaches were screaming the entire race,” she said.

Roberts attempted to go out somewhat controlled at the start in order to avoid being passed. In the end, it was Roberts who was able to pass a runner near the finish by .17 seconds.

Autumn Dragovitz was the next Zephyr to finish, placing 39th in 21:28.83.

Lindsay Solderitch was 61st in 22:32.46, Juanita Flores was 62nd in 22:35.46, Mackenzie Laub placed 65th in 22:43.53, Rachel Herr placed 83rd in 23:35.22, and Arizona Marakovitz was 87th in 24:04.10.
