New chamber music series: Decoda, a New York City-based chamber ensemble launches a new classical music series at Miller Symphony Hall, Allentown, with a concert, 3 p.m. Nov. 4. “Our appointment of Decoda as the first-ever Affiliate Ensemble of Carnegie Hall recognizes the quality of its work,” said Clive Gillinson, Executive and Artistic Director of Carnegie Hall. Now in its ?fth season, Decoda,has performed in South Africa, United Kingdom, Germany, Abu Dhabi, Iceland, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, and across the United States. “Something” musical: The National Tour of “Something Rotten!” stops at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1, State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton. The musical comedy tells the story of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, two playwrights toiling in the shadow of Renaissance playwright William Shakespeare. After a soothsayer foretells the next big thing in theater is singing, dancing and acting at the same time, the Bottom brothers write the world’s first musical. “Something Rotten!” was originally directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (“Mean Girls,” “The Book of Mormon,” “Aladdin”), with music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winner and Tony Award nominee Wayne Kirkpatrick and Golden Globe Award and Tony Award nominee Karey Kirkpatrick and a book by Tony Award nominees Karey Kirkpatrick and best-selling author John O’Farrell. Hometown boy: Multi-platinum MCA Nashville recording artist Josh Turner performs in concert, 8 p.m. Nov. 2, Penn’s Peak, Jim Thorpe. From his 2003 platinum-selling debut, “Long Black Train,” to his most recent 2017 Billboard No. 1 release, “Deep South,” his sixth studio album that featured the No. 1 hit single, “Hometown Girl.” Turner has garnered multiple Grammy, CMA, and ACM nominations. Turner’s hits include “Your Man,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” “Firecracker,” “Would You Go with Me,” “All Over Me” and “Time Is Love.” Turner’s first book, “Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood,” was published in 2014.
