The Emmaus Lioness Lions Club will hold a scarf shower 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at Triangle Park. The hand-knitted scarfs will be hung on the fence and anyone who needs one is welcome to take it without cost. The rain date for the scarf shower is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 11. The Lioness Club meets 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of the month at the Superior Restaurant. For information, call 610-967-9689.

The Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony 2 p.m. Nov. 8 to celebrate the new children’s wing. The addition will provide space for educational programs for children and give young adults space just for them and their collections. If interested in attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will be held inside the library, RSVP to Maryellen Kanarr at 610-965-9284, ext. 204 or email epldirector@cliu.org. Kanarr is the new library director. A warm welcome is extended to her.

The library will host a very special children and youth event 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 28 to allow the youngsters time to explore their new space.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, will hold its annual all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3. There is a minimal cost for anyone over the age of five. Reservations are not required. For information, call 610-965-9885.

The Emmaus Moravian Church, 145 E. Main St., will hold a Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3. For information, view emmausmoravian.org/calendar.

The museum at the Emmaus Historical Society, 218 Main St., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and by appointment. The museum will be open Nov. 24. New exhibits feature vintage cameras, old landline telephones, a film projector and a manual typewriter. Also on display is Emaus/Emmaus business memorabilia. Why two spellings for Emmaus? The members invite you to visit the museum to learn the answer.

The program for the society’s Nov. 14 meeting, “Lest We Forget,” celebrates all veterans and acknowledges the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Loren Weiss, board member and recent Kutztown University history major graduate, discusses the “new” technology used in the war and focuses on Emaus’s troops. The Emmaus Senior Citizens group meets 1 p.m. every Friday at St. Matthews EC Church, Fifth and Ridge streets. All local senior citizens are welcome. The programs for November are Nov. 2: Sterling, musician; Nov. 9: a film and Nov. 16: Jack Saunders, musician. There will be no meeting Nov. 23. Nov. 30 is game day.

Emmaus Borough Council will meet 7 p.m. Nov. 5 and 19 in council chambers, 28 S. Fourth St. The borough offices will be closed Nov. 12, 22 and 23 in honor of Veterans Day and the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Emmaus Garden Club will meet noon Nov. 13 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 3002 N. Second St. Victoria Trucksess will present a program on Nocturnal Nostalgia. She will describe the Clemson, S.C., firefly project. She will also discuss planting sweet nectar-producing plants and the need to water gardens regularly to attract slugs, snails and worms, which are activities which help to sustain firefly population. I received an update on recent activity from the Knauss Homestead Preservation Society on the Knauss Homestead, one of Emmaus’ historical sites. The members are beginning the fall clean up on the property, 164 E. Main St. (rear). They are appreciative to the Emmaus Kiwanis Club members who help with this task. They have completed indoor restoration work on two bedrooms and are beginning work on the third. The barn roof has been repaired. The group has begun a project with Lehigh University Engineers without Borders who will assess the structural improvements and costs necessary to make the barn safe for use as a museum of early agricultural life in Emmaus. The Woman’s Club of Emmaus will host a representative from the Wildlands Conservancy at its Nov. 26 meeting. The club meets 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St. The public is welcome to attend and learn about the exciting things that the conservancy is doing. In celebration of national writing month, the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., will hold a kids’ writing workshop, 10:15 a.m. Nov. 3 for kids old enough to write their own stories and for kids with parents who can take their dictation. The teen writers group will meet 6 p.m. Nov. 1.

Teens are invited to create Thanksgiving decorations 4:30 p.m. Nov. 8.

Master Gardener Debra Cordes will present an informational clinic on the spotted lanternfly 11 a.m. Nov. 1.

Local author Donnie Barilla, author of “Dance upon the Forest Floor,” will give a reading and book signing 7 p.m. Nov. 5. Books will be available for purchase.

This month’s craft is mini clay pot turkeys. Supplies will be provided for the first 30 participants at the Pinterest party 7 p.m. Nov. 12.

Celebrate Aviation History Month with Bob Kutzler, president of the Lehigh Valley Flying Club, who will present a talk on flight 7 p.m. Nov. 19.

The library will close 5 p.m. Nov. 21 and will be closed Nov. 22 through 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The mobile office of state Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-18th, will be at the library 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 26.

Ridge Manor Senior Center, 333 Ridge St., invites guests to join the residents for Lunch Bunch. The senior center offers a daily meal program where participants can enjoy the company of others and share in a nutritional meal. A minimal donation is requested for the lunch. Plaudits to Emmaus Borough for the award for Triangle Park. Triangle Park was the recipient of the Great Public Space award from the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association. The triangle has been part of the Emmaus community since 1759. It is the only town in Pennsylvania with a triangle at its center.

Congratulations to Alan Hawman for being honored as Volunteer of the Year at a recent Emmaus Borough Council meeting.
