KU Council of Trustees names new officers for 2018-2020

Kutztown University Council of Trustees has appointed new officers for the 2018-20 academic years.

Jim Ludlow of Fogelsville was appointed vice chair. He has been a member of the Council of Trustees since 2013.

He is president of Liquid Interactive, a digital marketing agency in Allentown.

His company specializes in digital strategy, technology and design, including marketing, web design and e-commerce solutions.

Before that, Ludlow served Air Products and Chemicals Inc., for 19 years handling senior and director level management assignments.

Ludlow earned his Bachelor’s degree in marketing and economics from Indiana State University and his Master’s degree in business administration in finance and accounting from Indiana University.

Tom Heck was appointed chairman of the trustees and Dr. Jolynn L. Haney ’84 M ’93 was appointed secretary.

Heck, of Wyomissing, has been a member of the Council of Trustees since 2012, most recently serving as vice chairman for the last two years. He is the owner of Heck Brothers.

With locations in Reading and Wyomissing, Heck Brothers, a third-generation family owned business, has been a full service florist serving Reading and the Berks County area for 111 years.

Heck, a graduate of Peirce College in Philadelphia, was a member of the KU Foundation Board from July 2002 through June 2011.

Haney, of Collegeville, has been a member of the Council of Trustees since 2016.

For more than 30 years, she has worked in the behavioral health care field.

In 2002, she formed Deerfield Data Management LLC, a firm specializing in collecting, extracting and interpreting behavioral health care information for nonprofit organizations and county government.

Haney also teaches research and statistics part time at Widener and Delaware State universities and has an academic editing business, Deerfield Academic Editing.

She has had multiple publications in scholarly journals.

A two-time alumna of Kutztown University, Haney earned both a Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1984 and a Master’s degree in counseling psychology in 1993.

She completed her doctorate in social work at Widener University, receiving the Thomas Young Outstanding Dissertation Award in 2014.

Each of the 14 Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities has an 11-member council of trustees, which carries out board policy and deals with a variety of local issues.

The council must have at least two alumni members and one student representative.

Members of the council are appointed by the governor of Pennsylvania for a six-year term and are eligible for reappointment.

The chancellor is an ex officio member of every individual university council of trustees in the state system.
