Board accepts resignations
At the Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting Oct. 8, the board accepted the resignations of Wilder Domond, bus driver; Suzanne Hetten, Whitehall High School math league adviser; Deidra Herbert, WHS Key Club adviser; Eunice Moyer, bus driver; and Aubrey Miller, intensive learning support teacher at Steckel Elementary School.
New appointments included salaried substitute Valerie Chajnacki, nurse at WHS, and paraprofessional Josanah Martinez, life skills at WHS.
The board also voted to approve bus drivers Tifani Weber, Thomas Mugavero and Cheryl Rabenold, as well as van drivers Dale Blattenberger and Lana Hemingway.
New appointments for club and extracurricular advisers for WHS included Victoria Ziatyk, German National Honor Society; Amanda Snyder, Anime Club; and Jason Grear, Future Business Leaders of America, with the additional compensation of $700 per person.
At Whitehall-Coplay Middle School, the board approved Courtney Hunsberger as adviser for Dance Club, at an additional compensation of $700.
Coaches for the 2018-19 season approved by the board included boys basketball assistant coaches Jeff Brosky, Eric Dogmanits and Corey Frantz, at the rate of $4,225; Thomas Keppel and Scott Kolumber (both WCMS), at the rate of $2,112.50; and Andrew Koefer and James Luchansky, volunteers. Approved assistant girls basketball coaches included Angela Bertola, Myla Firth, Nicole Umbenhauer and Martin Donohue, at $4,445, and volunteers Mary Lisicky and Kelly Riley. Assistant coaches for wrestling included Doug Bonshak, Ryan Heimbach and Frank Piff, at $3,954, and volunteers Joseph Attieh, Tyrone Klump, Luke Roth and Frank Rudolph. Assistant coaches for swimming, Mark Freeman and David Seeloff, were approved at $2,999. Head coach for track and field, Tyler Miller, will be compensated at $6,000.
The board approved teacher induction participants Kristine Eichelberger, mentor to Joshua Fick, at the additional compensation of $650; Laura Goldfeder, mentor to Richard Tonnies, at $650; Elizabeth Eck, mentor to Julie Pittas, at $1,250; Jennifer Stancombe, mentor to Rachel Burkhardt, at $650; and Jane Dolin, mentor to Valerie Chajinicki, at $325.
