Catasauqua: St. Mary’s preparing for Oct. 20 Oktoberfest celebration

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., will be having its second annual Oktoberfest 5-9 p.m. Oct. 20.

Joe Weber Band will again take the stage in the parish hall.

German-themed foods, such as homemade spaetzle, bratwurst, pulled pork sandwiches, German potato salad, kraut and more, will be available for purchase.

New this year is the addition of a biergarten in the parking lot. Oktoberfest brews will be featured in this area, only for adults age 21 and older.

Inside, there will be a basket raffle. Be sure to enter the door prize drawing as well.

There will be a photo station with Oktoberfest-themed props, so bring your camera to share photos.

A 4 p.m. Mass with German Mass sections, hymns and a choir will be held.

Catty Club, 226 Pine St., will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 21.

Made-to-order omelets and eggs Benedict are part of the menu.

The ladies of American Legion Post 215, 330 Second St., are hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet 8 a.m.-noon Oct. 28.

The menu includes scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, bacon, sausage, French toast, white toast, SOS, juice, coffee and tea.

Children age 5 and under eat for free.

The building is handicapped accessible.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 417 Howertown Road, is having a Thanksgiving Perkins pie sale.

Order forms may be obtained at the church office 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The order deadline is Nov. 1, with pickup Nov. 20 or 21.

Cash payment is required with the order.
