Shredding events on Oct. 13, 20

Mako

State Rep. Zach Mako, R-183rd, will co-host two shredding events to give residents of the 183rd Legislative District a chance to safeguard themselves against identity theft by having their personal documents securely destroyed.

The first, with South Whitehall Township, will be 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 13 at Covered Bridge Park, 2465 Wehr Mill Road.

The second event, with Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th, will be 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 at Robert “Bob” LaBold Maintenance Building, 550 W. Church St., Slatington.

Acceptable items include all paper and manila folders. No more than four bags or boxes per household are permitted, and no businesses.

Staples or paper clips do not need to be removed.

Examples of items that can be brought to the event include documents that contain personal information, including birth dates, Social Security numbers, bank account information and credit card numbers.

Information also will be provided about consumer protection and identity theft at the events.

The 183rd District includes South Whitehall (part), Washington and Whitehall (part) townships and Slatington Borough in Lehigh County; and Allen, Lehigh and Moore (part) townships, and North Catasauqua, Northampton and Walnutport boroughs in Northampton County.

Kempton

Kempton Fire Company, 2461 Route 143, Kempton, will be having a surf and turf bingo Oct. 14 at the fire company.

Doors open at noon. Games start at 1:30 p.m.

St. Peter’s

St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 7860 Center St., Emerald, will have the following events during October.

·Ministry of St. Peter’s will be offered at 5 p.m. Oct. 13, 20 and 27 at Life Tree Café, Main and Chestnut St., Parryville.

·Christ’s Kids Club will meet 6-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, 24 and 31 at St. Peter’s Emerald.

·The Redeemers Closet, a Ministry of St. Peter’s will be open from 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 13 for free clothing give away at 4019 Main St., Slatedale in the Salem Methodist Church Building.

·There will be a senior luncheon from 11:30-1 p.m. Oct. 17 at St. Peter’s Emerald.
