The township previously approved a subdivision of a 101.23 acre property, having an address of 3611 Gehman Road consisting of 24 residential single-family lots known as Stone Hill Meadows Phase 1 on March 3.

Phase 2 consists of 85 single family dwellings along the southern portion of the subdivision. This phase includes construction of Robins Road, Sweet Meadow Court and Scenic View Drive from Gehman Road to Macungie borough. It also will include concrete curbing, landscaping and stormwater facilities. All this is to be completed before the first building permit is given. This was approved by the commissioners.

The lot line adjustment was approved at 3865 and 3875 Fish Hatchery Road. This project will preserve a barn and a chestnut tree with this adjustment.

The board approved the compensation of the new township manager, Bruce R. Beitel. He was approved by commissioners at the Sept. 6 meeting. For the calendar year 2018, Beitel will receive $115,000 in salary plus benefits. It was also approved to make the township manager the liaison for Berkheimer. The change is that it will now specify township manager versus the name of the individual.

The sewer module was approved for the Body Elite Inc. development project. This is a new building being constructed near Shepherd Hills on Hamilton Boulevard. The property at 5502/5518 Hamilton Blvd. is 0.66 acres. The developer is planning to construct a 6,900 square foot training facility. The site was formerly used as a single family family residential home which is expected to be demolished.

Several residents have expressed concern about firework activity in the community. Public parks are a place people go to set off fireworks. The commissioners are checking to see if there is an ordinance to control this. If one is already established, a sign will be added to parks stating when to cease setting off fireworks.

The area on Orchard Road with frequent flooding problems is being considered for improvement. A design has been decided upon to fix this area so flooding stops. A resident is still concerned about the deterioration of the roadway but is grateful for the beginning of a remedy.
