The Emmaus Heritage Alliance, whose members include the Emmaus Historical Society, Shelter House, Knauss Homestead, 1803 House, Emmaus Public Library, Emmaus Moravian Church, Emmaus Remembrance Garden and Emmaus Main Street Partners, recently welcomed community members and visitors to the Emmaus Heritage Festival.
Festival activities included craft demonstrations, colonial games, family activities, food and music. Each participating group focused on a specific area of interest; activities for the very young such as the 1803 House sponsored mini archeological dig were interspersed with demonstrations of quilting and weaving which appealed to older audiences. One highlight of the day was the firing of a Pennsylvania long rifle accompanied by explanations of frontier life from historically well-informed reenactors.
