The junior parking applications will close Sept. 28 at the conclusion of the school day. Students should complete the application to request an Emmaus High School Parking Permit.

Upon review of the application, students will receive an email stating whether they are eligible for a permit.

If eligible, the student’s name will be entered into a lottery drawing which will be held the morning of Oct 17.

Passes will be distributed to eligible students during first period that morning.

Juniors who have a legal driver’s license, which must be valid as of Sept. 24, appropriate insurance and no severe disciplinary issues will be eligible for a parking permit. Forty permits are available, however, not all students who apply will be guaranteed a permit, as they will be issued based on a lottery drawing of eligible applications.

The Math Madness competition for Pennsylvania Math League starts 2:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in Room 366. The cost is just $5 per participant.

The first meeting of the ACSL Computer Club will be 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 27 in Room 366.

The Emmaus Arts Commission Student Film Festival is looking for student filmmakers. Students have 120 hours to conceptualize, shoot, edit and produce a six minute film. Submissions are judged and selected films are screened at the Student Film Festival at the Emmaus Movie Theater Oct. 29. Winners receive cash and prizes. The contest begins 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at the kickoff event held at EHS. For more information, visit the Emmaus Arts Commission website at www.emmausarts.org.

The freshman class voting window will be open through 8 p.m. Sept. 27 on Google Classroom. Winners will be announced Sept. 28.

The Mud Club pottery group meets in Room 520 after school every Tuesday.

The next Buzz Magazine meeting will be 2:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the learning lab.

Students interested in registering for PA Math League can get a form from their math teacher and return the form to Mrs. Adams in Room 369 or their math teacher. If you are currently not in a math class but interested in Math League see Mrs. Adams in Room 369. All forms are due by Sept. 26.

Global Citizens has its next meeting in Room 516 after school Sept. 27.

There will be a Young Republicans meeting on Sept. 27 in Room 310.

The EHS counseling office will host a Financial Aid Guidance Information Night Sept. 27. Kim Adamson, assistant director of financial aid services at Cedar Crest College, will speak to parents/guardians and students about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and financial aid application process. The program will begin promptly 6 p.m. in the auditorium.

The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered 8 a.m. Oct. 10 at EHS. It is recommended that all college bound juniors take this test. Registration is in the counseling office and costs $25. If paying by check, please make the check payable to Emmaus High School. The deadline to register is Sept. 28.

EHS juniors and seniors have an opportunity to visit the Kutztown University campus 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 16. Students will hear from Kutztown University admissions representatives, take a tour of campus and have lunch in one of the dining halls. Transportation will be provided and there is no fee to register. Seating is limited. Stop by the counseling office to register and receive a permission slip. Permission slips will be due to the counseling office by Oct. 1.

Lehigh County Executive Phillips Armstrong, is seeking between two to four students from EHS to serve on the newly created Youth Advisory Council for Lehigh County.

Membership on the Youth Advisory Council enables students to take on longterm leadership roles within the community. The meetings will occur on a monthly basis and involve discussions with local elected officials about critical issues, as well as opportunities for students to serve their community.

Interested students must be in good standing at EHS, must be able to participate after school and have their own transportation. The first meeting is 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Government Center, 17 S.
